Birth and/or obstetric transfers avoided in 2011-12

The SOLS 2011 - 2012 Evaluation Report indicates that -

On average locums estimated that they avoided one transfer every two days during their SOLS locum placements. During 994 days of locum cover in 11-12, approximately 497 birth and/or obstetric transfers to another medical centre were avoided for rural women during the absence of their regular obstetrician, enabling them to remain with their family in their community.
